Finding the Rhythm of Our Days

Things have changed in our life in the last year and a bit.

Wind back to the start of 2020 and we were planning a knock down of a shack to replace it with our forever house, packing up the mementos of many enjoyable years of shack living, I was settling in to the start of another year of teaching and learning alongside students and staff as an AST, DH was working on relaxing after a big year of helping out with  guaranteeing the future of his local squash centre, looking forward to time spent with grown up children and then...

COVID hit!

We were too far in to stop the demolition and rebuild so fingers crossed we would get there - COVID notwithstanding. The "grand plan" got a bit of a whack but in the end by November 2020 our new house was ready for us.

COVID rocked my working world as well. Boy did I have a year of learning! Not really the year I envisioned as my last year of working before taking the leap into early retirement. I struggled, as did many others, to adapt and roll with the changes. Found out new things about myself - not all of which I liked or felt proud of but also felt that I tried my hardest to continue to give my all to a workplace that I have loved being at.

So we get to the end of 2020 and we have knocked down a shack, built a house, sold a house, packed up and sorted much loved possessions, retired from work, farewelled a father/father-in-law, moved locations and welcomed in 2021! Not much really!

And now we are trying to find the rhythm of our days...

What does a day now look like?

Slow living?

Finding new activities? Rediscovering old activities?

Sharing our spaces?

Finding the together times and the apart times...
